Platinum (pt)-rhodium (Rh)-based catalysts have been put into practical use as so-called three-way catalysts that simultaneously convert C and NOx into harmless substances. This removal method using a catalyst controls the ratio of air to fuel (A/F ratio) to near the theoretical fuel efficiency to remove Co, HC, and other substances contained in exhaust gas.
The three components of NOx are removed simultaneously when the exhaust gas passes through the catalyst. The A/F control used in this system is normally carried out by detecting the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas and feeding it back to the electronic fuel injection system via a computer to accurately control the ratio of fuel and air. In addition, noble metals such as platinum and rhodium are mainly used as the catalytic active components of the three-way catalyst used in this method, and various transitions such as iron, nickel, cobalt, cerium, and lanthanum are used to improve the dynamic catalytic effect and heat resistance. Many are used to which metals are added. Such conventional catalysts are mainly manufactured by the following methods. For example, (a) a wash-coated catalyst carrier is coated with a transition metal such as nickel, and then impregnated with a noble metal. (b) First, the catalyst carrier is wash-coated with a solution containing alumina as a main component, and then impregnated with a solution of a soluble nickel salt, and then impregnated with a noble metal component.

The exhaust gas purification catalyst has a structure in which at least one of the noble metal components platinum, palladium, and rhodium is supported on a catalyst carrier having a honeycomb structure, and fine nickel oxide particles are present between the particles of the noble metal component. It is characterized by having particles dispersed therein, and its production method consists of: When at least one of the noble metal components of platinum, palladium, and rhodium is supported on a catalyst carrier having a honeycomb structure, a solution containing the noble metal component is prepared. A soluble nickel salt is added therein, the catalyst carrier is brought into contact with an iron solution to impregnate each component in the solution at the same time, and then heat treated.

In order to disperse fine nickel oxide between the noble metal component grains of rhodium, soluble N is added to the solution containing these noble metal components.
Use a solution to which i salt has been added. A wash-coated honeycomb structure catalyst carrier is brought into contact with the iron solution by immersion, etc., to impregnate the above-mentioned components simultaneously.

About twice the molar amount is preferable. Addition of nickel at a molar ratio of 5 times or more to the noble metal does not produce any further effect, and is, on the contrary, unfavorable from the standpoint of heat resistance.

If so, it is sufficient to soak the liquid for 3 to 5 hours, and there is no particular restriction on the temperature of the liquid used, and it can be used in a wide range from room temperature to 90°C. The temperature may drop to room temperature.

As a result of the crystal particles of the precious metal component and the nickel oxide particles being supported in an extremely finely dispersed manner, the contact area with the exhaust gas is greatly increased and the number of active sites is increased, so that the catalyst performance is greatly improved.

This is because the inclusion of Ni improves the dispersion of noble metal components, increases the surface area, and increases the number of active sites. Therefore, it is presumed to have heat resistance. Furthermore, it is thought that heat resistance is further improved by interposing CeO, and in some cases, suppressing the grain growth of noble metal components.

。<Effects of the Invention> As is clear from the test results of Examples and Comparative Examples, the catalyst of the present invention described above has high catalytic performance at high temperatures.
In particular, in Examples 2 and 3, the co, I (c conversion rate) at high temperatures was almost 80% to 90% or more, whereas in the comparative examples, most of the conversions were around 60 to 70%, which is different from the present invention. It can be seen that the catalyst of the invention exhibits excellent catalytic performance at high temperatures.
