  1. 【実用新案登録請求の範囲】 １ 複数の給紙段を備え、所定の給紙段を選択して、一
    連の画像形成動作を行なった後所定時間経過した時点で
    自動的に予め設定された所定の給紙段を選択する自動復
    帰機構を備えた画像形成装置において、上記給紙段にお
    ける用紙の有無を検出する検出手段と、検出手段による
    用紙が無いことを示す信号を入力として自動復帰機構の
    作動を阻止する制御手段とを具備させたことを特徴とす
    る画像形成装置。 ２ 検出手段が、自動復帰用として設定された給紙段に
    おける用紙の有無を検出するものである上記実用新案登
    録請求の範囲第１項記載の画像形成装置。 ３ 検出手段が、カセット装着の有無によって用紙の有
    無を検出するものである上記実用新案登録請求の範囲第
