In general, rice bran is attached to the surface of polished rice, and the bran is also attached to several shallow grooves on the surface. Therefore, this rice is polished using a rice polishing machine to remove the bran and improve the polishing degree and taste. However, when the rice polishing machine is operated, rice bran adheres to the rice polishing pressing piece due to frictional heat and moisture, and if rice polishing is continued in this state, the adhering rice becomes bran balls, which causes the rice to be polished even more. If this continues, the rice bran may stick together in layers, significantly reducing the rice polishing effect. Conventionally, the rice bran that had become stuck had to be cleaned by stopping the operation, which was inefficient.

The drawing shows an example of a rice polishing machine. Reference numeral 1 denotes an outer cylinder, and inside this is provided a rice polishing cylinder 2 made of a net-like cylinder. A rice polishing rotor 4 is provided. The rotor 4 includes a rotary cylinder 5 having a through hole 5a, and a plurality of pressing pieces 6, 6... attached to one side of the rotary cylinder 5.
It consists of. The pressing piece 6 is constructed by providing a synthetic resin foam 6a on the side of the rotary tube 5 and disposing a rubber piece 6b on the surface thereof. Reference numeral 7 denotes an intake pipe, which communicates between the outer cylinder 1 and the rice polishing cylinder body 2. 8 is a discharge pipe communicating with the gap between the rice polishing cylinder 2 and the rotary cylinder 5.

In the apparatus configured in this way, the rotary shaft 3 is rotated by a suitable driving means, and the rotor 4 is rotated. Polished rice is supplied from one end of the outer cylinder 1 and placed between the rice polishing cylinder 2 and the rotating cylinder 5. As the rotor 4 rotates, the side opposite to the mounting side of each pressing piece 6 is separated from the rotary cylinder 5 due to centrifugal force, and is pressed against the rice polishing cylinder 2. As a result, the input polished rice is transferred to the pressing piece 6 and the rice polishing cylinder 2.
The rice bran powder adhering to the polished rice is separated. At this time, if air is taken in through the intake pipe 7 in advance, the intake air flow will be generated from the rotary cylinder 5 through the through hole 5a to the intake pipe 7, and the separated rice bran powder will be discharged out of the machine along with the intake air flow. Ru. After the rice has been polished, the polished rice product is discharged from the discharge pipe 8.

However, if such operation is continued for a long time, rice bran will stick to the abraded portion (mainly on the surface of the pressing piece) as described above. Therefore, when some rice bran adheres to the surface of the pressing piece 6, the introduction of polished rice is stopped, and the rotor 4 is allowed to rotate idly in the absence of polished rice. As a result, the bran is removed from the surface of the pressing piece 6. When this idle rotation is completed, polished rice is added again and the rice polishing process is continued.

According to experiments conducted by the present inventor, it has been found that it is desirable to perform idle rotation for approximately 1 to 5 minutes after the rice polishing operation continues for approximately 30 minutes. On the other hand, or the inventor:
Until the completion of the present invention, it has been found that methods such as removing the sticky residue using a heater or using a high-pressure air stream have not been able to reliably remove the sticky residue.
