Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a voltage loss by forming conductive color filters in a liquid crystal panel and uniting an electrode and the color filters together in one body. CONSTITUTION:The electrode 2 is formed on a transparent electrode 1 and a compound obtained by mxing tin oxide powder and anthraquinone pigment with epoxy resin is used to form conductive color filtes 7 of red, blue, and green, which are united with the electrode 3. A liquid crystal layer 6 is charged between this substrate 1 and a substrate 2 provided with the electrode 4. When a voltage is applied between the electrodes 3 and 4, the voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer 6 directly, so the voltage loss is small.

The conductive color filter 7 used in the present invention is colored by dispersing a pigment in a conductive resin composition in which a conductive filler is dispersed in a thermosetting resin. As the conductive resin composition, an epoxy resin in which tin oxide powder was dispersed was used, but other thermosetting resins may be used. Further, although tin oxide powder was used as the conductive filler, other conductive fillers such as metallized glass fibers may be used. Anthraquinone pigments are dispersed in such conductive resin compositions to create red and blue colors.
