Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は超音波接着方法に関し、熱可塑性樹脂
からなる2つの物体を安定に接着するようにした
ものである。
従来、熱可塑性樹脂からなる2つの物体を超音
波溶着する場合には、第1図に示すように一方の
物体1の先端に小さな突起1aを設け、これを他
方の物体2に圧接して超音波により突起1aを溶
融させて接着していた。
ところがこの方法では、突起1aが超音波によ
り溶融する際に、超音波振動により空気を巻きこ
み、小さな気泡の混入した接着層が形成される。
このため接着強度は混入した気泡の量により変化
し、安定した接着強度が得にくいという問題があ
つた。
本発明はこのような従来の問題を解決する超音
波接着方法を提供するものである。
以下本発明の一実施例を第2図〜第3図ととも
に説明する。第2図から明らかなように、熱可塑
性樹脂からなる第1の物体3にはリブ3aが設け
られており、同じく熱可塑性樹脂からなる第2の
物体4には上記リブ3aよりわずかに幅の広い溝
4aが設けられている。
ここでリブ3aを溝4aに挿入して第3図aの
矢印方向に加圧しながら超音波を加えると、リブ
3aの先端付近および溝4aの当接面付近が摩擦
熱により発熱、溶融すると共に、先端部に発生し
た熱は、伝導によりリブ3aおよび溝4aの当接
面近傍を軟化させる。そして、リブ3aに圧力が
加わつているため、リブ3a先端溶融部および軟
化部が、第3図bに示すように座屈拡大する。同
様に溝4aの当接面も摩擦熱により軟化し、座屈
拡大したリブ3aの先端と相対する形状に形成さ
れる。一方摩擦熱により溶融したリブ3aおよび
溝4aの1部は前述したリブ3aの座屈拡大の際
に押し出され、熱影響を受けていないリブ3aと
溝4aの隙間に流れこみ第3図cに示すようにリ
ブ3aの先端の座屈拡大した部分を包みこみ、冷
却固化したとき、2つの物体3,4があり溝接合
でしつかりと結合される。
以上のように本発明によれば、熱可塑性樹脂か
らなる2つの物体のうち一方の物体にリブを他方
の物体に上記リブよりわずかに大きい溝を設け、
上記リブを上記溝に挿入して超音波を加えながら
加圧することにより、上記リブと上記溝の当接部
を加熱溶融し、上記リブの先端の溶融した部分を
拡大させるとともに、この拡大した部分の上方に
上記溝の内面の溶融した樹脂を流しこむようにし
たので2つの部材の結合強度を著しく大きくする
ことができる。

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 1 熱可塑性樹脂からなる2つの物体のうち一方
    の物体にリブを他方の物体に上記リブよりわずか
    に大きい溝を設け、上記リブを上記溝に挿入して
    超音波を加えながら加圧することにより、上記リ
    ブと上記溝の当接部を加熱溶融し、上記リブの先
    端の溶融した部分を拡大させるとともに、この拡
    大した部分の上方に上記溝の内面の溶融した樹脂
    を流しこむようにした超音波接着方法。
