The filter element 2 is housed in a cleaner case 3, and outside air introduced from an air intake port 20 provided on a side wall of the cleaner case 2 is passed through the filter element 2 and filtered. The air is then supplied to an intake passage 4 of an internal combustion engine (not shown).

.. This is carried out only with the element cable material 1 between the sections 5a. However, in such a conventional filter element 2, since the end plate 5.5 is formed of a steel plate or the like, lff1 increases, and only one side of the element material 1 is used for filtration. Since the filtration area is not used, the filtration area is not very large, and an attempt to expand the filtration area inevitably necessitates an increase in the size of the filter membrane 1-2.

Join both ends of the material to the bottom i! ! A cylindrical filter has been proposed, which eliminates the need for one end plate and increases the filtration area.

The filter element manufactured by this method has a small layer thickness and density of the filter medium, and although it can be used as a filter for smoke masks for short term use, it is not suitable for use in air cleaners for automobiles, for example. This technology could not be applied directly to filters that are used continuously for long periods of time.

A center fold line and an edge fold line are provided at the center and both ends of the paper, respectively, perpendicular to the mountain fold line and the valley fold line, and from the intersection of the edge fold line and the mountain fold line or the valley fold line, the inside of the filter paper is provided. Alternatively, a pair of mountain-shaped serrated fold lines are formed outwardly, and with the filter paper folded along the mountain fold line and the valley fold line, the portion between the end fold line and both edges of the filter paper is formed into each serrated shape. After forming a pair of side walls by bending at right angles in the same direction along the fold line, both ends of the side walls are glued together to form an annular shape, and a frame plate is glued to the lower edge of the side walls. Characteristics and Juru.

Of course, even in this case, an appropriate interval is provided between the side walls of the filter elements 1 to 10 and the side wall of the case body 41, so that the outside air introduced from the air intake port 42 flows through the side wall of the filter element 10. The air is supplied to the air supply port 44 through the central bellows section and the central bellows portion, thereby significantly increasing the filtration area.

Therefore, the IS plate at the end becomes unnecessary. Therefore, the weight of the filter element can be reduced, and together with the reduction in the number of parts, the cost can be reduced.
