The present invention relates to flame retardant means for polymethylpentene resin insulating materials used in electrical products, etc. Melamine cyanurate, organic halogen compounds, and antimony trioxide are added to polymethylpentene resin to make it non-dripping and flame retardant. The present invention aims to provide a composition that is effective for sex. Due to the Electrical Appliance and Materials Control Law, which regulates the safety of electrical products in Japan, and safety regulations in other countries, including the UL standards in the United States, all plastic materials used in home electrical products must be flame-retardant. This is strongly required. Especially for parts with a high risk of fire, such as parts that generate high voltage or parts that can extract large voltage,
The use of so-called non-dripping flame retardant materials, which do not melt and drip when in contact with fire, is prescribed. Therefore, in order to further improve the safety of electrical parts, the present invention has developed a non-dripping, flame-retardant polymethylpentene resin (hereinafter abbreviated as PMP resin), which has excellent electrical properties and is particularly superior in heat resistance to polyethylene and polypropylene. The present invention provides a composition that makes the composition more attractive. In the present invention, melamine cyanurate is used as one of the materials for making the material non-dripping. This melamine cyanurate is composed of an adduct of melamine and cyanuric acid, and its structure is that melamine molecules and cyanuric acid molecules are bonded by hydrogen bonds and arranged in a plane, and the planes are layered with weak bonding force. It is estimated that the structure overlaps with the . Such melamine cyanurate is commercially available from Yuka Melamine Co., Ltd. in grades A, B, C-1, and C-2.
By blending Sb 2 O 3 into flame-retardant PMP resin, we were able to make it non-dripping. Melamine cyanurate is a fine powder with a decomposition temperature of 350℃ or higher and is insoluble in water, and C-2 grade is the finest.
The particles are 0.5μ. A, B, C-1 etc. are C
It is approximately 1 μ, which is larger than −2. Both provide non-dripping properties, but
In particular, C-2 is a suitable material. That is, since PMP resin is a material with a high melting point, chlorinated paraffin, which has conventionally been used in the flame retardant method for polyethylene, cannot be used by decomposing it. In addition, since high molecular weight chlorinated polyethylene is not suitable in terms of compatibility, dechlorane, which is dispersed as particles, or decabromo biphenyl ether (hereinafter abbreviated as DBDPE) are used as the organic halogen compound, and three It is suitable to make a non-dripping material by using antimony oxide (Sb 2 O 3 ) in combination with melamine cyanurate. The amount of melamine cyanurate added varies depending on the composition. One of these is that in compositions in which polyolefin resin is made nonflammable only with organic halogen-antimony trioxide, the carbide on the surface remains as glowing even after the flame is removed, so fillers such as talc are always added. It is formulated so that this glow does not remain.
Furthermore, since the material itself of PMP resin is brittle, it is necessary to strengthen it with ethylene propylene rubber or glass fiber. These amounts tend to influence the amount of melamine cyanurate added. Examples will be described in detail below. As a polypropylene resin, Chitsuso Polypro 1014 manufactured by Chitsuso Co., Ltd.
The PMP resin is RT manufactured by Mitsui Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
-18 were blended in the ratios shown in Tables 1 and 2, mixed in a high-speed mixer, kneaded and extruded in a vented extruder, and pelletized. After the pellets are dried in a hot air dryer, they are molded into lengths of 127 cm by an injection molding machine.
A combustion test piece with a width of 12 mm and a thickness of 1.6 m/m was prepared. The flammability evaluation was based on UL Standard Subject 94, which is the most widely adopted worldwide. Non-drip flame retardancy is indicated by a rating of 94V-0. Conventional examples are summarized in Table 1, and the present invention is summarized in Table 2. All amounts are shown in parts by weight.

[Table] Table 1 shows conventional examples for comparison. In polypropylene resin, both decabromodiphenyl ether (DBDPE) and dechlorane become non-dripping at about 20%.
Shows a high degree of flame retardancy of 94V-0 according to UL-94 standard. Table 2 shows the examples of the present invention, and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 are about 20% in the case of polymethylpentene resin.
Even when % flame retardant was added, dripping was observed. Comparative Examples 3 and 4 were cases in which glass fiber was blended to prevent dripping, but the dripping properties were still the same. Examples 5 to 7 are the results of blending melamine cyanurate, resulting in non-dripping properties. Examples 8 and 9 are the results of blending a rubber component to improve the brittleness of PMP resin. Even if the amount of flame retardant was slightly reduced, non-dripping was achieved. Although such a rubber component is good because it imparts non-drip properties, it may reduce the heat resistance of the PMP resin, so it is desirable to keep the amount as small as possible. As is clear from the above explanation, according to the present invention, by containing melamine cyanurate, an organic halogen compound, and antimony trioxide,
A non-dripping flame retardant composition of PMP resin could be obtained.
