Advantageously, this electrolytic reaction proceeds at a lower voltage than that required in general water electrolysis. In another method of the present invention, water and halogen are added to the above SO 2 and reacted to generate hydrogen halide and sulfuric acid, and then the hydrogen halide is thermally decomposed to convert it into hydrogen and halogen. Halogens are reusable. In the above, the halogen is preferably iodine (I 2 ) or bromine (Br 2 ).

なエネルギー生産方法である。 The present invention is a method of generating electricity by using the hydrogen obtained as described above as a fuel for an alkaline or phosphoric acid fuel cell. According to the present invention, it is possible to effectively utilize SO 2 in combustion exhaust gas to prevent pollution and at the same time produce electricity, which will become an extremely powerful energy source in the future when it is inevitable that resources such as oil will be depleted or their prices will rise. It is a production method.

In the method of generating hydrogen by electrolysis of the present invention, if an inert gas is not used when desorbing SO 2 adsorbed on an adsorbent, but steam is used instead, this can then be directly subjected to an electrolytic reaction. The desorption step using an inert gas can be omitted, which simplifies the process accordingly.

化を一層図ることができる。 In the latter method of the present invention, water vapor and halogen vapor are added to SO 2 adsorbed on an adsorbent, and a reaction of SO 2 +2H 2 O+X 2 →2HX+H 2 SO 4 is carried out on the adsorbent such as activated carbon. When this is then heated to 350-400°C and desorbed, HX is decomposed by the catalytic action of activated carbon and can be converted into hydrogen and halogen.
According to this method, there is no need to use an inert gas, and the desorption of SO 2 can be performed integrally with the generation of HX and the thermal decomposition reaction, thereby further simplifying the process.

800,000 N emitted from a 250,000 KW coal-fired power plant
m 3 /h of combustion exhaust gas was treated by a dry flue gas desulfurization device. The coal used had a sulfur content of about 2%, and the SO 2 concentration in the combustion exhaust gas was about 1500 ppm. The total amount of SO 2 in the exhaust gas is approximately 1200Nm 3 /h. Adsorption using activated carbon followed by desorption with nitrogen. The obtained SO 2 was about 1150 Nm 3 /h, and the desulfurization rate was about 95.8%. This SO 2 is electrolyzed with water at an electrolysis voltage of 0.6V and a current density of 0.2A/cm 2 to produce approximately 1100N.

The obtained hydrogen iodide is decomposed into hydrogen and iodine by heating using a catalyst. The hydrogen thus obtained can be used as a fuel for an alkaline or phosphoric acid fuel cell in the same manner as described above to produce approximately the same amount of electricity.
