A drum-type scanner wraps a design drawn on graph paper or the like around a drum, and while rotating it at high speed, reads it with a reading head using a photoelectric conversion element with a reading spot diameter equivalent to one pixel.

Therefore, the design image is wrapped around a drum and rotated at high speed, but with this method, the design image drawn in poster color is wrapped around the drum, so the poster color easily peels off, and the rotation of the drum is not constant. Therefore, there was a drawback that the reading direction and spacing of the design images were limited.

ある。 The present invention aims to improve the conventional problems by installing the light source and the light receiving part away from the reading head and making it possible to move the reading head at high speed. The gist of the invention is as follows. a reading head that integrates the light-emitting side end of the light-emitting optical fiber and the light-entering side end of the light-receiving optical fiber; a moving mechanism for moving the reading head in both the X and Y directions; and the light-emitting head. A design image reading device includes a light source provided near an end surface on the light input side of an optical fiber, and a photoelectric conversion section provided near an end surface on the light output side of the light receiving optical fiber.

In FIGS. 1 to 3, a design drawing 1 is placed on the table of an XY plotter 2. Since the design image 1 is electrostatically attracted, it will not shift during reading. A pen-shaped reading head 4 is attached to the pen head 3 of the XY plotter 2.
A light source and a light receiving section are housed in a control box 6, and are optically connected to the reading head 4 through an optical fiber 5.

The signal is A/D converted and transmitted to the computer 7. The read data is output to a floppy disk, paper tape, etc., and becomes pattern data for jacquard fabrics.

For example, with an XY plotter with a drawing speed of 50 mm/sec, it takes 31.2 minutes to read a 360 mm x 260 mm design image at an interval of 1 mm 2 /pixel. In addition, it takes 4.3 minutes to read a similar design using an XY plotter with a drawing speed of 360 mm/sec.
