Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the blank of an original from being transferred by providing a means detecting whether an image is present or not from an original carried in the vicinity of a platen. CONSTITUTION:When a transfer surface of the original 2 carried in the platen 3 is blank, a signal detected by a light receiving element 6b is at a high level. Whereas the transfer surface is provided with an image, reflected light beams are a little and their level is low. After the signal is integrated by an integrating circuit 9, it is inverted and inputted to a control circuit 10 to which a character level is previously set. If the input signal is below the character level, the original 2 is decided not to have any image. Whereas the input signal exceeds the character level, the original 2 is decided to have an image. then a transfer stop signal and a transfer action signal are outputted to a copying machine main body 1 when the original is blank and when it has an image, respectively. In this way, the useless transfer of blank original is eliminated and the workability is improved.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention For this reason, copying is performed even if there are blank pages in a long document. In addition, in the case of a document with many blank pages, when a blank page reaches the platen, it is artificially copied. Stop the copying operation,
There was a problem that the operation was complicated, such as the need to repeatedly feed the document. There was also the problem that paper would be wasted if this operation was not performed.

Embodiment An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the figure, "" is a copying machine main body, which has a platen 3 on the upper part on which a document 2 to be copied is placed. A platen cover 4 that can be opened and closed is provided. Reference numeral 5 denotes a computer form feeder provided on the original delivery side of the platen 3, which sequentially feeds long originals 2 such as computer form paper onto the platen 3, and after copying the originals 2, transports them from the platen 3. It is composed of

m1 An image detector 6 is installed below the document carrying side of the platen 3. Image detection 16tj: detects the presence or absence of an image on the original 2 carried onto the platen 3 by the computer form feeder 5, as shown in FIG. LP
It consists of a light emitting element 6α such as In, and a light receiving element 6b such as a photodiode that receives the light emitted from the nuclear light emitting element 6a and reflected by the copying surface of the original 2, and the signal detected by the light receiving element 6b is After being converted into a voltage by the voltage-current conversion circuit 6, it is further differentiated by a differentiation circuit 9 to become an image presence/absence signal, which is input to the control circuit 10.

That is, when the copy side of the original 2 carried onto the platen 3 is blank, the signal detected by the light receiving element 6b is at a high level as shown in Fig. 3, and when there is an image on the copy side, the reflected light is The less rounding, the lower the level. After this signal is integrated by the integrating circuit 9, it is inverted and input to the control circuit 10. A character level is preset in the control circuit 10 as shown in FIG. 4. If the input signal is below the character level, the document 2 is treated as a blank page with no image, and if it exceeds the character level, it is treated as a blank page. It is determined that there is an image on the original 2, and if it is blank, a copy stop signal is output to the copying machine main body 1, and if there is an image, a copying operation signal is output to the copying machine main body 1, and the copying machine main body 1 is sent to the next copying machine main body 1. It is designed to be controlled like this.

Next, the above operation will be explained using the flowchart shown in FIG. 5. Now, when a long document 2 such as computer form paper is set in the computer form feeder 5 and the copy start switch is pressed, the process advances from step ① to step ②. The document level set in the previous copying is reset, and the process proceeds to step ■. After the operation of the integrating circuit is started in step ■, the process proceeds to step ■, where the first page of the long document 2 is placed on the platen 3. It is determined whether the foot position has been reached, and if the foot position has been reached, the process proceeds to step (2) and the image presence/absence signal from the image detector 6 is taken into the control circuit 10, and the control circuit 10 determines the presence or absence of both images on the original copy surface in step (2). FIG. 4 shows the image presence/absence signal taken into the control circuit 10.

As is clear from this reason, the control circuit IO determines that a signal exceeding a preset character level is an image presence, and a signal below a character level is determined to be an image fever.

A copying operation signal is output to the copying operation, and the copying operation is started. When copying is completed, the application signal is stopped and an operation signal is output to the computer form feeder 5, and the computer form feeder 5 transports the document 2 by one page, and the control flow returns to step (2) and repeats the previous copy again. After the document level is reset, the process proceeds to steps 0 to 0 and the above operations are repeated.

- If the paper is determined to be blank in step 0, proceed to step ■, output a stop signal to the copying machine main unit 1, stop the copying operation, and then proceed to step ■ to finish copying by means such as voice or display. or notifies the operator that a blank sheet has been detected and the copying operation has ended.

The operator determines whether copying is complete or has stopped due to blank paper based on the state of document 2, and if it has stopped due to blank paper, the worker can perform subsequent copying by feeding the blank part and pressing the copy start switch again. It becomes like this. Note that a time limit is set in advance in the control circuit IO so that the copying operation is not interrupted due to blank areas such as blank spaces in the original 2. Copying is performed to the copying machine main body 1 only when no image presence signal is input even after the set time limit is exceeded. A stop signal may also be issued.

Effects of the Invention As described in detail above, this invention detects the presence or absence of an image from a long original that is carried onto the platen of the copying machine main body and controls the copying operation, making it possible to copy a blank original. In addition to eliminating unnecessary work such as copying, it is also possible to improve work efficiency since the worker does not have to rely on the copying machine to make copies.
