DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a surface treatment method for tatami mats. Tatami omote is made by weaving the stems of the rushes used for the front of the tatami with hemp thread. Once the tatami mats are used, they easily discolor, making it impossible to enjoy the beauty of the tatami mats for a long time. Therefore, traditionally,
Various other techniques have been used, including dyeing with water-soluble dyes. However, there were problems in maintaining a pure white color, not fading, and having good weather resistance.

The present invention is a surface treatment method for tatami mats that has been developed to solve these problems. Its distinctive feature is that in the surface treatment of the tatami surface, oil-soluble dyes,
The method involves applying a composition consisting of an oil-soluble resin, a matting agent, and a solvent to the surface of the tatami mat, drying it, and then spraying a white pigment thereon for brushing.

Oil-soluble dyes are dyes that are insoluble in water but soluble in oil, solvents, etc. There are various types of dyes, and any of them can be used in the present invention. The dye used in the Examples is a metal-containing acid complex type dye among oil-soluble dyes. The natural color of tatami mats can be obtained not only by using green dyes, but also by mixing yellow and blue. By using oil-soluble dyes, the natural color of the tatami surface can be obtained, and the color does not fade even when walked on or wiped with a rag, and the tatami surface has good weather resistance. This is a great advantage compared to water-soluble dyes, which fade when walked on or covered with a rag, and also have poor weather resistance, resulting in coloring that is merely decorative.

Various resins can be used as the oil-soluble resin, but alkyd resins or mixed compositions of nitrified cotton and acrylic resins are particularly suitable. Since the resin is oil-soluble, it has the advantage of being able to be treated with oil-soluble dyes in one bath, and the resin film has the effect of preventing discoloration.

As the matting agent, there are various types of matting agents other than metal soaps or those mainly made of mica, and any of them can be used. By using a matting agent, the gloss caused by the oil-soluble resin can be suppressed, without impairing the elegance of the natural tatami surface.

The solvent may be any solvent that can dissolve and disperse oil-soluble dyes, oil-soluble resins, matting agents, etc.
Examples include aromatic compounds such as toluene, esters such as ethyl acetate, ketones such as methyl ethyl ketone, and aliphatic compounds such as alcohols such as butyl alcohol.

A composition comprising an oil-soluble dye, an oil-soluble resin, a matting agent, and a solvent can generally be prepared as follows. While stirring the solvent, add the oil-soluble dye,
The composition is obtained by sequentially adding an oil-soluble resin and a matting agent.

Various methods can be used to apply the composition to the tatami surface, but spraying with a spray gun is preferred. After applying the composition to the tatami surface, it is dried. By drying, the resin hardens and color fading can be prevented.

After that, white pigment is sprayed and brushed. As the white pigment, titanium white and various metal soaps can be used, but among these, one that is close to bluish-white is preferable, and zinc stearate can be mentioned as an example. The particle size of the zinc stearate is preferably finer than 100 meshes, with an average particle size of about 200 meshes. Various methods can be used for spraying, but it is preferable to use a powder sprayer to prevent unevenness. Also, it is convenient to use a roll brush for brushing. By spraying and brushing this white pigment, a surface similar to that of natural rush tatami mats can be obtained.

The above-mentioned surface treatment method for tatami mats solves the conventional problems and provides tatami mats that retain their natural color over a long period of time, do not fade even when walked on or wiped with a rag, and have good weather resistance. This has made it possible to fully meet the demands of consumers.

Example 1 While stirring 1000 g of toluene, 0.1 g of oil-soluble yellow dye (Orient Varif Earth Color No. 4120 manufactured by Orient Chemical Co., Ltd.) and 0.1 g of oil-soluble blue dye (Orient Varif Earth Color No. 2606 manufactured by Orient Chemical Co., Ltd.) were mixed. ) 0.1g, then 100g of maleic acid-modified alkyd resin
and Mizukasil as a matting agent, and stirred to sufficiently disperse the mixture to prepare a coating composition. The above coating composition is sprayed onto the tatami surface using a spray gun, and then dried at about 60 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes. Next, zinc stearate with a particle size of 100 mesh or less is sprayed using a powder sprayer and brushed using a roll brush.
