むインバータトランスと、このインバータトラン
スの二次側に整流・平滑回路を介して超高圧水銀
灯及び超高圧水銀灯を点灯させるためのスタータ
と、この二次側に設けられた整流・平滑回路の出
力部から超高圧水銀灯点灯時に検出される電流信
号を検出して入力する第１の比較器と前起超高圧
水銀灯の電圧の上昇に伴つて得られる電力信号を
検出して入力する第２の比較器と、これら２つの
比較器からの信号に基づいて、前記半導体スイツ
チング素子を制御する制御回路とを備えた超高圧
水銀灯点灯装置において、前記第１の比較器へ入
力する電流信号と、前記第２の比較器へ入力する
電力信号のための電流信号とをそれぞれ異なる手
段により抽出することを特徴とする超高圧水銀灯
