Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、重ね合わせた面の少なくとも一方がポリエチ
レン、ポリ塩化ビニル等の熱可塑性材料で構成される各
種包装材及び成形材をヒートシールする方法及び装置に
関するものである。
〔従来の技術〕及び〔発明が解決しにウドtル問題点〕
従来この種のシール方法及び装置には、外部加熱式のも
のとしてインパルスシール式等があり、またシール材料
自身を発熱させる方式のものに高周波誘電加熱式、高周
波誘導加熱式等がある。
前記インパルスシール法は第14図に示す様に通常、発
熱体にニクロムバンド22を用い、これに瞬間的に電流
を通じて加熱しこの発熱面を、重ね合わせたフィルムに
圧着し一定時間加熱後冷却して圧力を除去するまでの一
連の熱接着操作を連続して行う方法であるが、ミルクカ
ートン高速充填シール機に組み込まれた場合、高い圧着
力と急熱急冷の繰り返しの為ニクロムバンドの疲労が激
しく、寿命が短い、製品歩留まりが悪い、メンテナンス
が大変等の欠点があった。またカートンにアルミニウム
箔がラミネートされた「ロングライフカートン」製品を
製造する場合、カートンの外装面からの加熱だけでは内
層のアルミニウム箔が熱を拡散してシール面に充分に熱
が伝わらない為、シールができず、この場合は高周波シ
ール機の組み込まれた充填装置を別途設備しなければな
らなかった。
なお、第14図中6は加圧台、7はシール材料、12は
受台、13はクッション台である。
一方、高周波誘導加熱式は包装シール関係に広く使用さ
れているが、これは高周波コイルによりシール材料内の
金属層を発熱させるものであるため、アルミニウム箔層
を含むラミネートフィルムの場合には、該層で発熱が充
分に生じ一応満足のいくシール効果が得られるが、紙と
熱可塑性プラスチック材料による包装材料には、その発
熱がないため適用できなかった。
また誘導加熱の場合、シール面の両端部や断層部でのう
ず電流の流れ方が高周波コイルの沿いどおりにはならず
、加熱の均一性が得られないため均一で確実なシールが
できないという欠点もあった。
本発明は、従来のものの上記問題点に着目してなされた
もので、その目的は包装シール材料にアルミニウム箔層
の有る無しに拘らず確実なシールが可能なヒートシール
方法及び装置を提供することにある。
また、本発明の目的はメンテナンスフリーで生産性が高
く、省エネルギー的で長期間性能上の安定性に優れたヒ
ートシール装置を提供することにある。
〔問題点を解決するための手段〕
本発明のヒートシール方法は、複数のシール材料を重合
挟圧し、高周波加熱により加熱したのち冷却して熱接着
するに当たり、前記挟圧時に高周波コイルで誘導加熱さ
れるヒータによる外部加熱と、前記高周波コイルによる
前記シール材料自身の誘導発熱に基づく内部加熱とを同
時に行なうことを特徴とする高周波ヒートシール方法で
ある。
また本発明のヒートシール装置は、複数のシール材料を
重合した重合物を加圧台と、この加圧台に対向して配備
された受台との間に配置し、前記重合物を、これら加圧
台と受台により挟圧して、前記シール材料を熱接着する
装置において、前記加圧台、受台のいずれか一方に、高
周波電源に接続された高周波コイルを設けると共に、こ
の筒周ゝ。
波コイルにより誘導加熱されるようにヒータを適所に配
備したことを特徴とする高周波ヒートソール装置である
すなわち本発明は、一つのシール装置に高周波誘導加熱
シール機能(シール材料自身が発熱することによる内部
加熱シール機能)と、高周波誘導加熱で発熱するヒータ
による外部加熱シール機能とを兼ね備えたことを特徴と
し、シール面への熱の供給が、アルミニウム箔層のない
シール材料の場合には両性装面から、またアルミニウム
箔層のあるシール材料の場合には両性装面および内層(
アルミニウム箔層)から行うことができるという効果が
あり、更に本発明はニクロムヒータやクッションゴムの
様な短期消耗品を使用しなくて済むという利点や、高周
波誘導加熱シールにおける発熱の不均一を外装面からの
熱で補償できるという利点があり、新しい包装シール技
術としての高周波誘導加熱シール機を提供することがで
きるものである。
〔実施例〕
本発明の実施例を第1図乃至第7図を参照しつつ説明す
ると、ヒートシール装置は、高周波電源(高周波発生器
)1に接続された高周波コイル2及びこの高周波コイル
により誘導加熱されるように配備されたヒータ4を備え
た加圧台6と、コイルバネ8を有する冷却器91を台枠
9□に固定してなる受台I2とを互いに対向配備して構
成されている。
前記ヒータ4は断面コ字状で誘導加熱が生じ得る任意の
金属材料によりなるものであり、加圧台6の中央下方部
を構成する絶縁層5.の下端部に形成された凹溝に固着
され、その両脚部の先端部が受台12に向いている。そ
して、このヒータの内側に断面コ字状の絶縁層5□が形
成され、さらに、この絶縁層の内側に断面長方形の前記
高周波コイル2が固着配備されている。この高周波コイ
ルの外周面の一部は外部に露出し、その中心部、すなわ
ち前記管体の内部は冷却水の通水路3となっている。
一方、前記冷却器9Iでは、その上端部に凹溝が、また
、この凹溝より下方部位に冷却水の通水孔1)がそれぞ
れ形成され、前記凹溝には断面楕円形のコイルバネ8が
金属製のビン1oにより固定配備され、このコイルバネ
の外周面の一部は自由状態において加圧台6と対向する
側に突出している。
しかして、前記ヒータ4を強磁性金属材質のものとする
と高周波コイル2で発性する磁力線が収束されヒータ自
身がより効率良く発熱すると共に、シール幅dに対向す
るシール材料7中のアルミ箔及び前記コイルバネ8をも
効率良く発熱させることができる。このヒータの形状や
配置の例としては、第13図(A)、 (B)、 (C
)などを挙げることができ(第1図は第13図(A)に
該当する)、シール材料7の種類や形状等に適応した加
熱を行うことができるが、上記(A)乃至(C)のうち
エネルギーの消費効果が最も高いのは、図中点線で示す
磁力線分布から明らかなように、(A)である。
ヒータ4の板厚aは、使用する高周波電流の周波数によ
って決まる誘導電流の浸透深さ以上の厚みが必要であり
、これが薄い程エネルギーが少なくてすむが、ヒータ材
料の加工性及び組立て上の理由により0.1 w以上と
するのが望ましい。
前記絶縁層51.5□は電気絶縁性に富み、熱伝導性の
良い、かつ耐熱性に優れた材料、例えば市販の「デブコ
ン」等を使用したものであるが、これらの絶縁層を包囲
して加圧台6を構成する材料も、電気絶縁性、耐熱性に
富む材料、例えばセラミックス等を適用することが好ま
しい。
前記コイルバネ8の形状は、シール幅dやその他の要因
により真円形に至るまでのいろいろな楕円形状に形成さ
れて使用される。コイル径e、f及び線径gについても
同様である。また、コイルバネ8の材質については一般
のバネ鋼材で良いが、前述の通り強磁性材のものほど発
熱効果が高いので好ましい。なお、このコイルバネのシ
ール面に当たる側はテフロンコート等によりシール外装
面(シールする面と反対側の面)からの剥離性を高める
ことができる。
本発明装置に使用される高周波電流の周波数は、前記ヒ
ータの板厚aの最小寸法0.1龍に対応すると同時に、
シール材料7にラミネートされるアルミニウム箔(一般
的板厚7〜15μm)に対し適量の磁力線を透過させコ
イルバネ8に作用して発熱を起こさせ得るものであるこ
とが望ましく、その範囲は約0.1= 0.5MHzで
ある。この周波数はシール材料にアルミ箔のない場合に
も適応できる。
次に、この実施例装置の作用について説明すると、第1
図のように加圧台6を降下させ、複数枚のシール材料7
をこの加圧台と受台12のコイルバネ8とで挟圧し、こ
の挟圧の間に高周波電源1を作動させてヒータ4及びコ
イルバネ8を発熱させ、各シール材料7をその外面側(
シール材料同士が接触している面と反対側の面)から加
熱すると同時に、同じく誘導加熱によりシール材料7内
のアルミニウム箔層自身を発熱させて、シール材料7同
士の接触面を溶融し、次いで前記挟圧状態のまま、加圧
台6の通水路3及び受台12の通水孔1)に流過する冷
却水により高周波コイル2、絶縁層5t1ヒータ4及び
コイルバネ8を冷却し、各シール材料7の外面側から、
これを伝導伝熱により迅速に冷却したのち、加圧台6を
上昇・離反させて1サイクルの熱接着工程が終了し、か
くてシール材料7は幅dに亘ってヒートシールが行われ
る。
なお、この実施例とは反対に前記受台12を上下動させ
るか、又はその両方を開閉挟圧するようにしてもよいこ
とは勿論である。
上記工程において、前記コイルバネ8は第4図及び第5
図に示すように、シール材料7の形状に応じて第3図の
自由状態に比べて少し扁平に変形し、シール材料7に対
する押圧力の付与と、シール材料の加熱・冷却の作用を
行うものである。したがって、上記コイルバネを設けた
ことによって、段差のあるシール面をより確実にシール
できる効果がある。
また、上記工程において、熱接着のサイクルタイムとシ
ール材料7の外面温度(ここで、外面とはヒートシール
する面と反対側の面を意味する)と、内面温度(ここで
、内面とはヒートシール面を意味する)は第7図に示す
とおりとなり、優れたw熱・冷却効果が得られることが
わかる。
ここで第1図例装置を使用して行った、第6図に示すア
ルミ箔層の無いミルクカートンの胴部液中シールの実験
条件及び結果を示すと、以下のとおりである。
+1)  シール材料カートンの厚みは「ポリエチレン
十紙」で合計約250μm、第6図のシール長さhは1
04mm、重ね幅iは9fi (2)高周波コイル2のコイル幅Cは3fi、ヒータ4
の板厚aは0.21、絶縁層5.の厚みbは平均で約0
.15鶴 (3)  コイルバネ8のコイル径e及びrは6×5f
i、線径gは0.4鶴 (4)冷却水の供給温度は10℃で、通水路3の水量は
1.21 /l1in 、通水孔1)の水量はQ、31
7sin(5)加圧力は600 kg、高周波コイル通
電電流は250kHzで約800A (6)  サイクルタイムは加熱時間が0.4秒、冷却
時間が0.2秒で合計0.6秒、加圧開放時間0.4秒
とし、1サイクル1秒での繰り返し運転テストを実施し
た。
この実験では第4図及び第5図から明らかなように特に
カートンの中央部で重なり合った部分でのコイルバネ8
とカートンの沈み込み具合がシールの確実性を明確に表
しており、市販されている従来のインパルスシール法に
よるシール製品と同等の結果を得ることができた。
また、アルミニウム箔がラミネートされたミルクカート
ンについて上記条件のうち高周波コイル通電電流を上記
の約173にして同様のヒートシール実験を行ったとこ
ろ、市販されている従来の高周波シール法による製品シ
ールと同等の結果を得ることができた。
次に、第8図は本発明の別の実施例を示すもので、この
例では受台12は、台枠12Iに伸縮性に冨むゴム系成
形物からなるクッション台13を嵌合して構成されてお
り、このクッション台と加圧台6によりシール材料を挟
圧するようにしである。
また、第9図に示す更に別の実施例は、ミルクカートン
のボトムシール用に好適なものであって、この例では加
圧台6に前記第1図例の受台12におけるものと同様の
コイルバネ8、これを固定するだめのピン10、及び通
水孔1)と同一の作用をする冷却水管1)□が配備され
ており、ヒートシールするべき部分はコイルバネ8と受
台12により挟圧され、高周波コイル2によるコイルバ
ネ8の発熱により加熱され、冷却水管1)1に流過する
冷却水により冷却されるものである。
なお、高周波コイル2内部の通水路は該コイルを冷却し
てその耐久性を高めるためのものである。
さらに第10図及び第1)図に示す実施例は、アルミ箔
及び紙入りラミネートチューブのチューブ20の先端に
プラスチック成形によるヘッド21の肩部をシールする
のに好適なものである。
この実施例では、装置カバー17内に、高周波コイル1
火源体2.を巻き付けた加圧台6と、冷却水管1).を
巻き付けた冷却器15を配備し、この間に上方から下方
に順に絶縁シート16、高周波コイル2火源体2:、絶
縁層5及び強磁性金属からなるヒータ4が配設され、前
記高周波コイル1火源体21内には冷却水が流過するよ
うに構成されている。
一方、受台12は円錐状のヘッドホルダ19と円柱状の
金属マンドレル18により構成され、前記ラミネートチ
ューブは第10図に示すB様でシールされる。
しかして、高周波誘導加熱によるうず電流の流れかたは
第12図の矢印の様に断層部で弧を描いてUターンする
ものであるため、全周をシールに必要な均一温度にする
ことは容易でない。この為、従来の高周波シール装置で
は断層部付近はどうしてもシールがあまいという欠陥が
あったが、この実施例では第1)図で見るとおり、ヒー
タ4は強磁性金属なので高周波コイルで発生するほとん
どの磁力線を効率良く集束し断層部におけろうず電流の
Uターン現象を断層部の両端末コーナ一部に引込んでそ
の発熱を促し、且つヒータ4による外部加熱で補償され
るのでシール面は全周が均一に加熱される。
ところで上記ラミネートチューブに係る従来の工法は、
(1)ヘッド成形時にチューブを供給して同時成形する
方法と、(2)予めリング状のアルミラミネートフィル
ムを成形ヘッドの表面に接合しておき、前記高周波誘導
加熱方式でシールする方法の2通りがあり+1)は生産
能力が低く、(2)は製造工程が増え且つ資材費が増す
という欠点があったが、上記装置により工程や資材を何
ら変える事なく生産量を3倍に上げることができた。
〔発明の効果〕
以上述べたように本発明は、高周波コイルによる高周波
誘導加熱シール(内部加熱シール)機能と、この高周波
コイルで誘導加熱されるヒータによる外部加熱シール機
能を兼ね備えたものであり、シール材料にアルミニウム
箔層のあるなしに拘らずシールが可能であり、しかも確
実で品質の高いシール効果が得られ、メンテナンスフリ
ーで生産性が高く、省エネルギー的で経済性にも富むな
ど、多大の利点をもたらすものである。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)複数のシール材料を重合挟圧し、高周波加熱によ
    り加熱したのち冷却して熱接着するに当たり、前記挟圧
    時に高周波コイルで誘導加熱されるヒータによる外部加
    熱と、前記高周波コイルによる前記シール材料自身の誘
    導発熱に基づく内部加熱とを同時に行なうことを特徴と
    する高周波ヒートシール方法。
  2. (2)前記冷却処理を、前記挟圧状態のまま前記加圧台
    及び/又は受台に設けた冷却器により前記シール材料を
    伝導伝熱により冷却して行う特許請求の範囲第1項記載
    の方法。
  3. (3)複数のシール材料を重合した重合物を加圧台と、
    この加圧台に対向して配備された受台との間に配置し、
    前記重合物を、これら加圧台と受台により挟圧して、熱
    接着する装置において、前記加圧台、受台のいずれか一
    方に、高周波電源に接続された高周波コイルを設けると
    共に、この高周波コイルにより誘導加熱されるように適
    所にヒータを配備したことを特徴とする高周波ヒートシ
    ール装置。
  4. (4)前記加圧台及び/又は受台の適所に冷却媒体の流
    路を設けて冷却器を構成し、前記挟圧時に前記ヒータ及
    び/又はシール材料を冷却可能とした特許請求の範囲第
    3項記載の装置。
  5. (5)前記高周波コイルの外周面の少なくとも一部が電
    気絶縁性材料により包囲されていると共に、該電気絶縁
    性材料の外周面の少なくとも一部が前記ヒータにより包
    囲されているものである特許請求の範囲第3項又は第4
    項記載の装置。
  6. (6)前記高周波コイルが断面略長方形に、前記ヒータ
    が断面コ字状又はニ字状にそれぞれ形成されていると共
    に、該ヒータの各脚部の先端部が前記重合物のヒートシ
    ール時に前記受台に向くように配備されているものであ
    る特許請求の範囲第5項記載の装置。
  7. (7)前記高周波コイル及びヒータが前記加圧台に設け
    られていると共に、前記受台が金属材料からなるコイル
    バネを、前記加圧台と対向する側にその外周面の一部を
    突出して配備されているものである特許請求の範囲第3
    〜6項のいずれか一つの項記載の装置。
  8. (8)前記受台が、前記コイルバネ近傍の適所に冷却媒
    体の流路を備えているものである特許請求の範囲第7項
    記載の装置。
