The body 3 and two end plates 5, 5, which are made by punching out a plate material in a semicircular shape to close both ends 4, 4 of the body 3, are beveled on their joint surfaces, and then both are assembled. It has been widely adopted to manufacture the body part 3 and the end plates 5, 5 in one piece by TIG welding or by performing several press deep drawing processes on a single plate material.

In addition, the press mold for headers manufactured by the latter method is very expensive, and the header openings that fit into the end outer shells 1', 1' of the heat exchanger body 1 require repeated deep drawing several times. 6 Inner four corners 7 1 , 7 2 ,
Since it is difficult to form 7 3 and 7 4 at right angles, there is a problem in that the manufacturing cost increases significantly.

造上の問題をも残している。 Furthermore, in this type of header, after the openings 6 are fitted onto the end outer shells 1', 1' of the heat exchanger body 1,
The periphery of the opening 6 is welded to the side of the heat exchanger body 1 and fixed, but during this welding, the header is pulled to one side and the center position of the header top 8 shifts to the left or right and becomes fixed. The external dimensions of the header tend to be uneven, and since the plate thickness of the deep-drawn header is thin, the internal pressure applied to the header (usually 10 to 30 kg/
cm 2 ), there remain structural problems such as the tendency for cracks to occur near the weld bead between the header 2 and the heat exchanger main body 1.

There is an outer shell at the end of the heat exchanger body inside both lower ends 10, 10 (see 1' in Figure 1).
Step portions 11, 11 are formed to be engaged with each other.

Next, as shown in FIG. 3B, the sag 13 produced by the press drawing process is punched out from the broken line position using a press die 14.

寸法が不均一になる心配も全くない。 As described above, in the header for a heat exchanger of the present invention, the body part 3 is formed of an extruded section, and the wall thickness of the body part is gradually increased from the top part 8 toward both lower ends 10, 10. The weld bead width can be made larger than before, and sufficient welding strength can be obtained to withstand the internal pressure of the header. In addition, stepped portions 11, 11 that engage with the end outer shells 1', 1' of the heat exchanger main body 1 are provided on the inside of both lower ends 10, 10 of the body 3, so that it is easy to install the header. The position is accurately determined, and due to the presence of the step portions 11, 11, there is no fear that the header will be pulled to one side during welding, causing the center position to shift and resulting in non-uniform external dimensions.

きる等の優れた効果を奏する。 In addition, since the end plates 5, 5 at both ends of the body 3 are formed integrally with the body 3 by press drawing, TIG welding between the body 3 and the end plates 5, 5 is not required, and the inner surface of the header opening 6 Since the four corners 7 1 , 7 2 , 7 3 , and 7 4 can be formed at substantially right angles by a single press drawing process, the press die is simple and can be manufactured at an extremely low cost. Furthermore, due to the above-described press drawing process, the bent portions of the body 3 and the end plates 5, 5 become naturally curved R, R, and the strength of the entire header is significantly increased. Even if the wall thickness of the headers 5 and 5 is thin, a sufficiently high pressure resistance can be obtained, and the amount of materials required for manufacturing the header can be greatly reduced.
