The present invention relates to a method for producing asphalt foam that can be used as various joint materials.
In particular, the present invention relates to a method for producing water-stopping asphalt foam having a dense cell structure and excellent water-stopping properties. Joint materials used in houses, vehicles, civil engineering work, etc. are required to have basic properties of water repellency and slow restoring force. One such joint material is known that utilizes the water repellency of asphalt and the restoring power of foam (hereinafter referred to as asphalt foam). As such asphalt foams, there are conventionally known asphalt foams made by melting and impregnating asphalt into a soft urethane foam having open cells, and by impregnating an asphalt emulsion into a foam having open cells. These materials are impregnated with asphalt to provide water repellency, and as a result of the asphalt impregnating the foam to reduce the inherent restorability of the foam, they have a gradual restoring force suitable for joint materials. However, since conventional asphalt foams are manufactured by impregnating the foam with asphalt, there is a problem in that so-called uneven impregnation occurs and uniform quality cannot be obtained. In addition, the asphalt attached to the cell walls of the foam during impregnation is relatively easy to detach, and therefore, when compressed repeatedly, the impregnated asphalt is gradually lost and the quality deteriorates. . Therefore, the applicant previously proposed a method for producing asphalt foam that does not cause uneven quality or deterioration of quality in Japanese Patent Application No. 57-125373.
This manufacturing method is characterized by adding and mixing a urethane prepolymer obtained by reacting a polyether polyol with an ethylene oxide content of 15% or more with an organic isocyanate to an aqueous asphalt emulsion, and then foaming the asphalt aqueous emulsion. It is. Subsequently, the inventor conducted various improvement studies on the above manufacturing method, and found that by using antifoaming silicone oil in combination, the cell structure of the resulting asphalt foam became extremely small, resulting in extremely excellent water-stopping properties. The present invention has been completed by discovering that the present invention has the following features. That is, the present invention involves adding and mixing a urethane prepolymer obtained by reacting a polyether polyol with an ethylene oxide content of 15% or more with an organic isocyanate and an antifoaming silicone oil to an aqueous emulsion of asphalt. This is a method for producing water-stopping asphalt foam, which is characterized by foaming. When antifoaming silicone oil is used, for example, in a method for producing a general foam such as urethane foam, the foaming effect is significantly suppressed, and therefore the foaming ratio of the resulting foam is reduced. However, in the present invention, no reduction in foaming ratio was observed due to the use of antifoaming silicone oil, and it was confirmed that the density of the obtained asphalt foam was not much different from that when no antifoaming silicone oil was used. . in this way,
The fact that antifoaming silicone oil, which has conventionally been widely used as having the effect of significantly suppressing foaming, acts to miniaturize the cell structure without suppressing foaming in the present invention is unexpected. It was impossible. The aqueous emulsion of asphalt used in the present invention can be obtained by known emulsion techniques, such as mechanically stirring and dispersing asphalt in water using a cationic or anionic surfactant. In this case, the asphalt may be natural asphalt, straight asphalt obtained as a residue from distillation of asphalt-based crude oil, or blown asphalt obtained by oxidative polymerization by introducing heated air into this asphalt. Further, the ratio of asphalt to water is preferably 0.3 to 2.0 parts by weight of water to 1 part by weight of asphalt. If the amount of water is less than 0.3 parts by weight, it is difficult to obtain a uniform emulsion, and if it exceeds 2.0 parts by weight, the amount of asphalt is so small that an asphalt foam with desired properties cannot be obtained. The urethane prepolymer used in the present invention not only serves as a blowing agent, but also remains in the asphalt foam and functions as a connecting material or filler. Such a urethane prepolymer can be added in a wide range of 5 to 250 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the asphalt emulsion. In other words, when the amount of urethane prepolymer added is reduced, a so-called asphalt foam with asphalt richness is obtained. On the other hand, if the amount of urethane prepolymer added is increased, an asphalt foam with a rich foam structure can be obtained. In any case, an asphalt foam that fully functions as a joint material can be obtained. In particular, by using Asphalt Rich's asphalt foam in a molded form, it is possible to achieve further improvements in workability and joint effectiveness. Of course, other asphalt foams can be used not only in the casting type but also in the mold type. As the antifoaming silicone oil in the present invention, for example, KF96 (trade name, manufactured by Shin-Etsu Silicone Co., Ltd.) can be used. Unlike ordinary silicone foam stabilizers, when used, for example, when foaming urethane foam, these foams have the effect of extinguishing air bubbles once formed, that is, have a foam-breaking or defoaming effect. In the present invention, when the above-mentioned aqueous asphalt emulsion, urethane prepolymer and antifoaming silicone oil are mixed and stirred, the water in the asphalt emulsion and the free isocyanate groups in the urethane prepolymer react as shown below to release carbon dioxide gas. A foaming action takes place. -N=C=O+H 2 O→NH 2 +CO 2 The asphalt particles are uniformly dispersed throughout by the foaming action of the carbon dioxide gas generated above and the mechanical mixing operation by stirring, so the asphalt foam obtained is As a result, there are no local unevenness in the asphalt distribution and uniform quality can be obtained. Furthermore, since the asphalt foam obtained by the present invention has asphalt itself constituting the foam base, the asphalt is not separated from the foam base as in the conventional asphalt foam in which a synthetic resin foam is impregnated with asphalt. Never. Therefore, it has excellent durability without causing any deterioration in quality. Moreover, the bubbles formed by the above foaming action are miniaturized by the action of the added antifoaming silicone oil, resulting in an extremely fine cell structure and excellent water-stopping properties compared to when no antifoaming silicone oil is added. Asphalt foam is obtained. The specific mechanism of the action of this antifoaming silicone oil is not clear, but in the case of the present invention, the foaming raw material is special, so the effect of the antifoaming silicone oil is not due to the foam-breaking effect, but rather due to the foam formation. It is thought that this occurs as an effect of dividing air bubbles into smaller air bubbles. Incidentally, if the water contained in the aqueous asphalt emulsion is insufficient for the foaming action of the urethane prepolymer, a necessary amount of water is appropriately added and mixed. In addition, fillers such as aluminum hydroxide, clay, and calcium carbonate, pigments, rust preventives,
It goes without saying that additives such as antifungal agents can also be optionally added. Examples of the present invention will be described below. Example (i) 50 parts by weight of blown asphalt, 50 parts by weight of water, and 0.3 parts by weight of sodium alkyl sulfate as a surfactant were mixed in a homogenizer (mixing and dispersing machine).
The mixture was uniformly mixed and dispersed to obtain an aqueous asphalt emulsion. (ii) Molecular weight at 80% ethylene oxide content
3000, a trifunctional polyether polyol and tolylene diisocyanate were mixed and reacted at 85° C. for 4 hours with stirring to obtain a urethane prepolymer with an NCO of 8.5%. (iii) Molecular weight 3000 with 100% propylene oxide,
A trifunctional polyether polyol and tolylene diisocyanate were mixed and reacted at 85° C. for 4 hours with stirring to obtain a urethane prepolymer with an NCO of 9.2%. (iv) The urethane prepolymers of (ii) and (iii) above are 9:
1
Blend this blended urethane prepolymer and antifoaming silicone oil in the ratio of (i) above.
(A, B) The asphalt foams A to B each had a specific gravity shown in the same table. On the other hand, asphalt foams (A', B') shown in the table were obtained in the same manner as in the above example except that no antifoaming silicone oil was added.
