らなる磁性膜、(3)は磁性膜(2)を覆って討食性及
び耐摩耗性を有するクロムからなる保護膜である。以上
のように構成された磁気記録媒体は磁気ディスク装置(
図示せず)に収納され、情報の記録再生が行われる。し
かし、磁気ディスク装置内の空気に含まれ次水分が、基
板(1)と保護膜(3)との異種金属接合腐食媒体て反
応する。そしてこの反応によって、第3図の磁気記録媒
体の端部の詳細図に示されるように、最終的に水酸化物
又は酸化物等を形成するアノード反応

1)と保護膜(3)との間に発生する。このようにして
、アノード反応とカソード反応の組合せにより、基板(
1)と保護膜(3)との間で異種金属接合腐食(5)が
容易に生じ、その結果、地部に起こる腐食(5)が磁気
ディスク装置の信頼性を低下させていた。しかし、現在
このような化学的劣化に対する対策がとられておらず、
磁気記録媒体の端部を保護し比例としては特開昭60−
209920号公報に示されたような、機械的な損傷を
防ぐ目的で端部の保護、すなわち、磁性膜の端部の傷や
