Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively obtain an efficient heat exchange by constituting an insert member by a row of walls extended in a serpentine manner for forming a channel for both media in a shape of a substantially high and narrow compartments, and alternately supplying one and the other of both the media to adjacent compartments. CONSTITUTION: The heat exchanger is a water-oil heat exchanger used, for example, for a water-cooled engine. This exchanger 1 substantially comprises a housing 2, an insert member 3 inserted into the housing 2, and a cover 4 for closing the housing 2. And, the housing 2 has a bottom wall 21 and four sidewalls. The member 3 is substantially formed of a row of walls 30 disposed in a zigzag manner. The walls 30 are constituted by a lengthwise wall 31 extended parallel to one another, and end face walls 32, 32' connected at end faces to one another. The two media compartments are formed between the walls, one medium, here for oil (O1), and compartments 51 to 53 are aligned therefor, and a compartment 61 is, for example, aligned for the other medium, here water (W).
