Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for synthesizing pantothenic acid useful as a drug industrially and advantageously, by hydrolyzing alpha,gamma-dihydroxy-beta,beta-dimethyl-gamma-butyronitrile by using a microorganism belonging to the genus Arthrobacter. CONSTITUTION:One or more microorganism belonging to the genus Arthrobacter, Aspergillus, Bacillus, Bacteridium, Brevibacterium, Cochliobolus, Corynebacterium, Micrococcus, Nocardia, Penicillium, Pseudomonas or Fusarium, capable of hydrolyzing alpha,gamma-dihydroxy-beta,beta-dimethyl-gamma-butyronitrile are brought into contact with alpha,gamma-dihydroxy-beta,beta-dimethyl-gamma-butyronitrile to give the aimed compound.
