Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep proper tracking servo characteristic by providing a detection circuit for a push-pull error signal so as to eliminate a false tracking error signal due to the deviation of an objective lens.
CONSTITUTION: A push-pull error detection circuit 30 outputs an application signal of an actuator coil 29B driven by a phase compensation circuit 29A via a low pass filter 30A to detect a false tracking error signal generated due to the eccentricity of the optical disk. That is, the peak of a tracking error signal is detected from a traverse signal in crossing the track laterally and an AGC amplifier 21 in the servo circuit is controlled at reproduction or record ing depending on the level of the error signal obtained through the calculation of the peak to form a proper tracking error signal and the state of skew of the disk is detected depending on the change in the DC level of the tracking error signal thereby eliminating the offset component of the tracking error signal generated by the skew.
