Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. capable of providing excellent hardness, flexibility, and chemical resistance, which comprises a particular melamine-contg. (meth)acrylate prepolymer and an ethylenically unsatd. monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate or a polyalkylene glycol (meth) acrylate (i) is reacted with a lactone (ii) for ring opening addition, thereby preparing a hydroxyl group-contg. (meth)acrylate (a) of the formula (wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 is a 2W6C straight-chain or branched alkylene; R3 is a 4W7C straight-chain alkylene, and m and an are each 1W5). A condensation reaction of component (a) with a melamine (b) having 3 or more methylol or alkoxymethyl groups and optionally a hydroxyl group-contg. org. compd.
