Abstract

PURPOSE:To make setting of the damping characteristics to any desired figure by using a hollow shaft to a shaft to be installed within a casing for a rotary damper, partitioning the hollow shaft with a separator into No.1 and No.2 inner oil chambers, and equipping this separator with a damping force generating mechanism consisting of a disc valve etc. CONSTITUTION:When a motorcycle moves up and down during running pursuant to unevenness of the road surface, a hollow shaft 14 will rotate. When this shaft 14 rotates in the direction of arrow, the volume of No.1 outer oil chamber decreases. While the S1 volume of No.2 outer oil chamber S2 increases. Consequently the oil in the oil chamber S1 flows into No.1 inner oil chamber S3 via an oil hole 29 formed in the hollow shaft 14, passes an oil path 31 formed in a separator 28, and flows into No.2 inner oil chamber S4 upon pushing wide a disc valve 32. The oil which has flowed into oil chamber S4 passes another oil hole 30 formed in the hollow shaft 14 and flows into the oil chamber S2. When it passes th part throttled by the disc valve 32, a damping force is generated.
