Abstract

PURPOSE:To allow a driver to grasp the positional relationship of pedals and facilitate the drive operation by detecting depressions of a brake pedal and a foot rest respectively and making a vehicle unable to travel when both depressions are not detected respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a shift lever is at the parking position or the neutral position, respective switches 21, 23 are turned on, and a signal is inputted to an OR circuit 33 and the second AND circuit 31. If both a brake pedal and a foot rest are not depressed at this time, respective switches 17, 19 are turned off, and a high-level signal is inputted to the first and second AND circuits 29, 31 via inverters 27. An actuator 13 is then operated to lock the shift lever. If a parking brake is not operated, its switch 25 is turned off, and a high-level signal is inputted to the third AND circuit 37 via an inverter 35. A buzzer 15 thereby generated an alarm.
