Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the formation of pre-expanded particles containing a large amount of an inorganic substance, by kneading a chlorinated vinyl chloride resin with an inorganic substance and a solvent, pelletizing the mixture, impregnating the pellets with a volatile blowing agent, and pre-expanding them.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. chlorinated vinyl chloride resin is kneaded with 5W1,000pts.wt. inorganic substance (e.g., talc or glass fiber), 10W2,000pts.wt. solvent (e.g., butyl cellosolve) and, preferably, a stabilizer, and the mixture is pelletized. These obtained of pellets are impregnated with a volatile blowing agent (e.g., trichlorofluoromethane), and pre-expanded to obtain an inorganic substance-containing chlorinated vinyl chloride resin pre-expanded particles. By performing the in-mold expansion molding of these preexpanded particles, a foam free of distortion upon heating, etc., excellent in heat resistance, low in smoking when burnt, and suitable as a heat-insulating material, a building material, or the like can be obtained.
