Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain ferric chloride for flocculant in waste water treatment at a low cost by oxidatively calcining waste hydrochloric acid pickling soln. of steel sheets, etc., in the steel industry to produce ferric oxide and hydrogen chloride gas, and by mixing and reacting the ferric oxide above-mentioned with warm hydrochloric acid obtd. by absorbing the hydrogen chloride gas into water. CONSTITUTION:The waste hydrochloric acid pickling soln. of steel sheet is supplied to a hydrochloric acid recovery plant with a calciner 1 and an absorber 2, and firstly, oxidatively calcined in the calciner 1 to produce ferric oxide nd hydrogen chloride gas. The hydrogen chloride gas is supplied to the absorber 2 to produce warm hydrochloric acid by bringing into contact with water. Thereafter, this warm hydrochloric acid and the ferric oxide above-mentioned are introduced to a dissolution vessel 3, and mixed and dissolved.
