Abstract
PURPOSE: To preserve vegetables for a long term by enclosing the opening of a vegetable case with a cover of moisture permeable film made of a thin hydrophilic resin film and providing a rib on the entire circumference of the cover thereby preventing dew from adhering to the inner surface of the case or the cover. CONSTITUTION: A moisture permeable film 13 comprises a laminate of a thin silicon film 16 and hydrophilic nylon fibers 17 wherein the film 16 blocks liquid perfectly and exhibits gas permeability. A vegetable case 9 has enclosed structure and since chill does not intrudes directly into a container 10, high temperature is kept therein by moisture evaporated from vegetables stored therein. Moisture exceeding saturation humidity permeates gradually to the low humidity cold storage room 4 side through the film 13 on the surface of the cover 11. Since no dew is formed on the inner surface of the container 10 or the cover 11, vegetables 8 are not damaged. Drink stored in the room 4, dew adhering to foods or oozed liquid dropping onto the cover 11 is dammed by a rib 15 formed on the entire circumference of the cover and the surface of the film 13 is not covered with liquid.
