Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve safety and reliability, by making a plurality of vents through the opposite sideboards and arranging air supply ducts having air supply holes respectively along opposite sideboards located at the outside thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A disc type eddy current brake device comprises a truck base frame 1, a magnetic brake disc 3 to be pressure fitted over an axle 2, a frame 4 having C-shaped cross-section, etc. Four electromagnets 6, 7 are arranged in arch at the inside of opposite sideboards 4a, 4b of the frame 4. Protection covers 8, 9 are arranged around the electromagnets 6, 7 at the inside and outside of the opposite sideboards 4a, 4b. Furthermore, a plurality of vents 10 are made through the opposite sideboards 4a, 4b, and air supply guides 1 having air supply holes 11a are arranged along the opposite sideboards 4a, 4b located at the outside. When a vehicle drives in the direction B(reverse direction), high speed air fed through the air supply holes 11a flows through the vents 10 and cools the brake disc 3 and the like positively so as to prevent overheating thereof.
