Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase driving force, by providing a magnetic coil for controlling frictional contact between a vibration member and a moving member through magnetic attraction. CONSTITUTION:An annular supersonic motor is constructed with a stator comprising a vibration member 1 and an electrostrictive ceramic 2 and a moving member rotor 4 pressure contacting with the vibration member 1. A magnetic coil 7 is formed annularly around the annular vibration member 1 and controlled through a power source 8 into optimal magnetic force condition. Furthermore, magnetic metal is employed for the vibration member 1 and metal is also employed for the moving member 4 with a good quality friction material 5 is adhered thereto. Magnetic attraction is utilized through the surface of the friction material for transmitting driving force produced through traveling wave of supersonic vibration occurring in the vibration member 1 efficiently to the moving member 4. when magnetic attraction is controlled through control of current in the magnetic coil 8 to reduce contact friction force of the moving member 4, slip control is carried out partially resulting in speed and rotation control.
