Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a ceramic filter element from being charged by static electricity generated between gas and the filter element by imparting electroconductivity to a constituting material of the ceramic filter element. CONSTITUTION:An electroconducting ceramic filter element 4 is fixed to the inside of a filter case 1 by supporting helves 3 provided with many gas holes 2 and a filter cover 5 provided with an outlet hole 6 of purified gas. SiC is used for the material of the element 4 as electroconducting ceramic. The element is constructed so as to keep sufficient strength at the larger hole diameter side by designing the penetrating hole diameter at the gas introducing side to be 0.05-3mum in average, and the penerating hole diameter at the gas outlet side to be 10-50mum. Since electroconductivity is imparted to the element, charge of static electricity is eliminated completely, and accidents of fire during filtration due to discharge are prevented.
