Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable clear monochrome or multicolor printing even when an object to be printed is low-temperature ice cream, sherbet or other similar food, by using a transfer material rotated synchronously with a form cylinder and an ink which remains liquid until printing but is rapidly solidified upon adhesion, and moving the object to be printed and the transfer material at the same velocity, thereby performing printing. CONSTITUTION:An ink 4 incorporated in a form cylinder 1 is transferred onto a transfer roll 5 by being pushed out through perforated parts 14 of a metallic screen formed in a predetermined shape, under pressing by a squeegee 3. The transfer roll 5 with the ink thereon makes strong or light contact with an object 6 to be printed, while being rotated, along a line of contact 13. With the transfer roll 5 pressed, the transfer ink 12 is transferred onto the object 6, e.g., sherbet on a stick, placed on a conveyor 7 moved in the same direction and at the same velocity as the roll 5, resulting in printing. Most of the transfer ink 12 is transferred onto the object 6, while a portion is left as a residual ink 8 on the transfer roll, which is rotated, and the next new ink 4 is transferred in an overlapping manner on the residual ink 8. The roll 5 is further rotated, and the newly transferred ink 12 is transferred onto the object 6.
