Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title agent having an excellent shelf stability and providing a coating film having good weather resistance and hardness, by combining a soln. of a specific siloxane prepolymer with a soln. comprising at least a curing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A silicon alkoxide of formula: RnSi(OR')4-n (wherein R is 1W4C alkyl which may contain epoxy, amino, acryl or the like; R' is 1W4C alkyl; and n is 0W3) is admixed with at least 20wt.% curing agent such as water and 50W5,000ppm catalyst (e.g., sufluric acid) to prepare a soln. (A) of a siloxane prepolymer having a wt.-average mol.wt. (Mw) of 200W400 and an Mw to Mn (no.-average mol.wt.) ratio of 1.0W2.0 A catalyst such as a cyclopentadiene catalyst of the formula (wherein C5H5 is cyclopentadiene; Me is an element belonging to the group IV and the period 4W6 of the periodic table; X is halogen; and n is 1W3) in an amt. of 100W10,000ppm based on the silicon alkoxide is dissolved in a curing agent such as water to prepare a soln. (B). The soln. A is mixed with the soln. B to prepare a silicon alkoxide coating agent having an Mw of 400W1,600 and an Mw to Mn ratio of 1.1W1.8.
