Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical cable which is evenly terminated with high accuracy by automating all the operations including supplying of ferrules to a prescribed position, injecting and packing of an adhesive agent in said position, and inserting and fixing of the ferrules to the optical cable in another prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:A feeder 20 which is equipped with chucks to grip up every prescribed number of the ferrules from a ferrule supplying device 10 and feeds the gripped ferrules successively to the prescribed position and an adhesive agent supplying device 40 which injects an adhesive agent into the ferrules held in the holding part 30 are provided. A ferrule inserting device 60 which rotates and holds the ferrules and rises the ferrule to the prescribed position, clamping devices 70, 70' which clamp the optical cable terminal to the prescribed position and a ferrule fixing device which compresses and fixes the ferrules in order to prevent the positional deviation or dislodgment of the ferrules are provided. All of the terminating operations from the supplying of the ferrules to the feeding of the ferrules, the packing of the adhesive agent, and the inserting and fixing of the ferrules are thereby automatically processed without the aid of manpower. The termination of the optical cable is thus evenly executed and finished with the high accuracy.
