Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the slack which is liable to arise in optical fibers housed in the grooves of slots and to form an optical fiber cable having stable characteristics by providing a groove for retaining winding in which a wire- shaped material for retaining the fibers is housed separately from fiber-housing grooves to the core part of the cable. CONSTITUTION:The groove 8 for retaining winding in which the wire-shaped material 9 for retaining the fibers is housed is provided separately from the fiber-housing grooves 3 to the core part 2 of the cable. Since the cable is constructed in such a manner, the movement or slack of the optical fibers in the grooves is prohibited. Provision of not only a piece but also plural pieces of the grooves 8 is possible. Cord-like materials in place of tapes 8 for retaining the fibers are usable as well. The characteristics of the optical fiber cable are thereby stably maintained.
