Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer to be readily processed into a composite material with an epoxy resin, having excellent heat resistance and heat shrinkability after molding, by reacting a dienephilic residue-containing unsaturated polyester with a diene compound under a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A dienephilic residue-containing unsaturated polyester is reacted with a diene compound, a Diels-Alder addition structure is introduced to a main chain of polymer and the reaction is carried out in a condition to at least partially dissolve a formed modified unsaturated polyester to give the aimed polymer. To be concrete, the reaction is preferably carried out in a solvent such as aromatic hydrocarbon. The reaction temperature is preferably ≤90°C. The dienephilic residue-containing unsaturated polyester of the raw material is preferably produced by using a dibasic acid and/or a diol having a dienephilic structure.
