Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable high-speed switching of large magnetic fields by forming three thin film high magnetic permeability materials on nonmagnetic substrates having many grooves orthogonal with a magnetic flux direction and providing thin film coils formed with two windings by pattern etching via an insulating layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:This electromagnet is constituted of the 2nd thin film high magnetic permeability material 2 which has the cylindrical thin film high magnetic permeability material 9 wound with the thin film coil 7 at one end, the 1st thin film high magnetic permeability material 1 which is installed to face said material via the thin film coil 7 and a magneto-optical disk held in place therebetween and has the spiral thin film coil 8 pattern-etched around a cylindrical hollow part 21 at one end, the 3rd thin film high magnetic permeability material 3 which magnetically couples the thin film high magnetic permeability materials 1 and 2 and a circuit 10 for modulating the current for generating the magnetic field which passes the same current to the coils 7 and 8. These three thin film high magnetic permeability materials 1-3 are formed on the nonmagnetic substrates 4-6 having the stripe grooves orthogonal with the magnetic flux direction. The high-speed switching of the large magnetic fields is thereby enabled.
