Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer having a high electric conductivity and polymerization degree, by subjecting an electrolytic solution containing an aromatic compound as a monomer to anodic oxidative polymerization in the presence of a compound of a specific metallic element.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic solution (preferably PF6 -, SbF6 -, etc.) containing an aromatic compound as a monomer is electrochemically subjected to anodic oxidative polymerization in the presence of a metallic compound of any of Zn, Cd and Hg to afford the aimed polymer. Furthermore, the amount of the monomer used in the electrolytic solution is preferably 0.01W0.5mol./l and that of the electrolyte used is preferably 0.01W1mol./l. The amount of the metallic compound used in the electrolytic solution is preferably 0.01W0.1mol./l.
