Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure easy welding termination with laser welding by providing a forged and molded contact terminal with a contact section near one end and a pair of mutually separating parallel slots extending inward from the other end, in which respective conductors are accepted and kept in a tightly fitted condition. CONSTITUTION: A multi-slot electric contact terminal has a rear termination section, which contains a pair of mutually separating conductor accepting slots 42A, 42B extending forward from the rear end for a pair of conductor wires 24A, 24B to be terminated, partitioned with the inside faces of side walls where the slots 42A, 42B face opposite each other. It has a width selected to be slightly smaller than the conductor wires 24A, 24B at a position in at least one axial direction, to terminate the conductor wires 24A, 24B being kept in a substantially tightly fitted condition and not in a warped condition by welding. In this way, a terminal can be realized to be located at an arbitrary side of a contactor carrier, independently of the positions of other signals and earth terminals, so that wire treatment operation prior to welding termination can be simplified.
