Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively prevent firehazard which would occur at the ultimate breakdown of a metallized film capacitor element, by winding a heat resisting film on the side periphery of the element and connecting external electrodes on the end faces of the element with external terminals through temperature fuse elements. CONSTITUTION:External electrodes 3 of an easy-melting metal are formed on the opposite end faces of a metallized film capacitor element 2. Heat resisting film 4 is wound on the side periphery of the element and external elements are connected to the external electrodes 3 through heat-melting fuse elements 5. When the element 2 reaches ultimate breakdown and is burnt down, gas is produced and ignited. Even if flame is produced at any part of the element, it is guided toward the end faces of the element 2 by the film 4 wound around the element 2 to melt the electrode 3 and the flame projects from the end faces of the element 2, Thus, the fuse elements 5 are melted by the projected flame whereby power supply to the element 2 is interrupted. In this manner, fires apt to occur at the ultimate breakdown of the element can be prevented effectively.
