Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture an in-plane non-oriented electromagnetic steel strip of practical thickness, by hot-rolling a steel slab in which respective contents of C, Si, and Al are controlled while specifying rolling-finishing temp., by subjecting the hot-rolled plate to cooling at controlled temp. and then to winding, and by applying cold rolling and annealing to the above. CONSTITUTION:A steel slab having a composition containing, by weight, <=0.01% C and <=1.5%, in total, of Si and Al is cast. The above slab is hot-rolled at a rolling-finishing temp. between the Ar1 point and 700 deg.C and, after the conclusion of rolling, water cooling is started within 0.5sec to cool the hot-rolled plate at >=30 deg.C/sec cooling rate, followed by winding at <=500 deg.C. Subsequently, the plate is cold-rolled to the final thickness and then annealed. By this method, the non-oriented electromagnetic steel strip for rotary equipment having a thickness fit for practical use can be obtained by a simplified process without inhibiting productivity.
