Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a metallic sheet plated wit a Zn alloy having excellent formability and corrosion resistance by subjecting the surface of the metallic sheet to vapor deposition plating of a Zn-Mg alloy contg. a specific ratio of Mg. CONSTITUTION:While the metallic sheet such as steel sheet to be treated is run in a vacuum vessel, a crucible contg. Zn is subjected to electric resistance heating to evaporate the Zn. A crucible contg. Mg having the vapor pressure higher than the vapor pressure of the Zn is heated by a high energy beam of an electron beam, etc., having a high heat converging characteristic to generate the Mg vapor so that the Zn-Mg alloy contg. 0.5-40wt.% Mg is plated by vapor deposition on the surface of the steel sheet. The vapor deposited plating layer of the Zn-Mg alloy in which the Mg is incorporated in the above- mentioned range is formed at high adhesion on the steel sheet by controlling the Zn and Mg by heaters of respectively different heating temps. In addition,the steel sheet plated by vapor deposition with the Zn-Mg alloy which is excellent in not only the corrosion resistance but also workability is obtd.
