CONSTITUTION:A near end mark Ne of an ink ribbon is so constructed that a plurality of constant pulses are outputted as shown in the figure (b). Besides, a printing area enough to perform data printing of about one page contents is established from this near end mark Ne to a non printing part of the ribbon. When the near end is detected by a state detection means 2 and a judging means 3 for the ribbon, a printing control means 4 controls a printing drive part 5. A fixed amount of the ribbon is skipped and besides, a ribbon exchange instruction is given to an operator by an indication means 7 via CPU 6.
