Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic composition having remarkably improved moistening action and pH-buffering action without deteriorating the characteristics of peptide and giving a softer film, by compounding a phosphorylated peptide or its salt derived from natural protein. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic composition contains 0.1-30wt.% of a phosphorylated peptide or its salt derived from an animal protein (e.g. collagen, keratin or casein) or a vegetable protein (e.g. soybean protein or corn protein). The phosphorylated peptide can be produced by reacting a phosphoryl halide with a peptide produced by the hydrolysis of a protein and preferably has an average molecular weight of 300-20,000 and a phosphorylation ratio (P/N) of 0.01-0.50 defined as a ratio of the total phosphorus (wt.%) to the total nitrogen (wt.%).
