Abstract
PURPOSE:To minimize image curvature in a sagittal direction and to obtain bright highly resolved image by employing five-group, five-element constitution including a negative meniscus lens and making it concentric about a stop, and shortening the overall length. CONSTITUTION:This f.theta lens has the five-group, five-element constitution consisting of a 1st lens 1, a 3rd lens 3, a 4th lens 4, and a 5th lens 5 which are positive meniscus lenses having their concave surface on light beam incidence sides and a 2nd lens 2 which is a negative meniscus lens having its concave surface on a light beam incidence side. Then this f.theta lens is so designed that negative distortion which is the feature of a ftheta lens is generated and the value of D'=(Y'-ftheta) showing equal-speed scanning performance is nearly zero, where (f) is the focal length of the whole system, theta is an angle of deflection, and Y' is the distance of an image formation position from the optical axis. This f.theta lens meets requirements shown by 1. Here, r2, r3, and r5 are the projection surface of the 1st lens and the incidence surfaces of the 2nd and 3rd lenses, n2, n5, n7, and n9 the thickness of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th lenses, d4, d6, and d8 are the surface gaps of the 2nd-5th lenses, and (f) the focal length of the whole system.
