Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve a highly accurate measurement of dimensions, by placing a can on a table with a seaming section to be inspected downward, a condition under which dimensions of parts at the seaming section are measured.
CONSTITUTION: Measuring units 40, 50 and 60 are arranged near the perimeter of tables 2 and 4 with a can 100 placed thereon, having measuring elements and an electrically measuring means for measuring dimensions from movement of the measuring element to judge the quality of the can 100 from a measuring data of the electrically measuring means. The measuring elements of the measuring units are located almost at heights the same as those of the tables 2 and 4. The tables 2 and 4 have notches to get the measuring elements in or out or to advance of retract them while provided with a groove to be engaged with a seaming part of the can 100 on the surface thereof as required. This enables measurement of dimensions of the seaming width and the thickness of the seaming section and a counter sink depth easily and accurately.
