Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a sealed-type lead-acid battery with less self-discharge while not in use, long life, excellent weight efficiency and low cost by constituting paper-like members to be attached to both sides of a negative electrode plate with fibers insoluble in an electrolyte solution. CONSTITUTION:The positive electrode grid is a normally cast grid. The negative grid is a continuously manufactured grid. On both sides of the negative plates are applied paper-like members for retaining paste. The paper-like member is constituted with fibers which are insoluble in the electrolyte solution. The paper-like member, separators, and positive plates are put closely together. This makes it possible to provide a sealed-type lead-acid battery with less shelf depreciation, long life, excellent weight efficiency and low cost.
