Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a primary smoothing capacitor, by metastabilizing the voltage supplied to the primary smoothing capacitor with a DC/DC converter. CONSTITUTION:AC voltage 1 is rectified with a bridge type diode 2. Non-stable full-wave rectified DC voltage is metastabilized with a first DC/DC converter 6 without being smoothed and is supplied to a capacitor 3. Overcurrent drooping function is given to the DC/DC converter 6 so that no excessive rush current will flow in case AC voltage 1 is applied. The metastabilized DC voltage can maintain the output voltage in the instantaneous service interruption by the action of the capacitor 3. A second DC/DC converter 4 is dispensed with high withstand voltage performance in order to apply the metastabilized voltage, so that it can be miniaturized and made highly efficient.
