Abstract
PURPOSE: To make an operation efficient and to protect an operator from radiation exposure, by providing a first ball valve being connected to a straight tube and operable manually and a second ball valve being connected to the first ball valve by means of a one-touch joint and operable remotely.
CONSTITUTION: A first ball valve unit A is screwed to each incore flange 9 in which a neutron instrumentation tube 6 to be replaced is fitted. A second ball valve unit B is connected to the valve unit A by means of a one-touch joint 27. When the instrumentation tube 6 is pulled out, the core water which is sealed water-tightly theretofore by a seat element 37 located between the sealing surface of the instrumentation tube 6 and the seat member of the flange 9, flows into a straight tube 25 and reaches a second ball valve 28. When the valve 28 is operated to open by operating an operating device 36, the core water is discharged to a rad pit through a transparent tube 30. After a first ball valve 26 is operated to close, a new neutron instrumentation tube 6 is hung down from above a reactor and fitted therein. The valve unit B is removed from the valve unit A by means of the joint 27. By this constitution, the operation is made efficient and an operator is protected from radiation exposure.
