CONSTITUTION:Plastic optical transmission fiber durable to use for a long time causing only small light transmission loss even when it is held in a working environment >=150 deg.C because of its simple structure and high heat resistance is obtd. when the optical fiber is formed of a core material having a recurrent unit satisfying the formula I or II, and a clad material layer comprising polycarbonate polymer having >=0.3dl/g intrinsic viscosity and a refractive index by >=0.01 smaller than the refractive index of the core material. In the formula, each X<1> and X<2> is 1-6C alkyl or 6-8C aryl, or halogen atom.; each Y<1> and Y<2> is H atom., 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C alkoxy, or halogen atom.; each X<3> and X<4> is H atom., 1-6C alkyl, 6-8C aryl, or halogen atom.
