PURPOSE:To enable recording of a predetermined volume of records even after the detection of the exhaustion of ink, by arranging to detect that the ink within an ink tank is exhausted, to start counting of the recording volume after a signal indicating that the exhaustion of the ink is inputted, to output a count-up signal when the recording volume reaches a given volume, and to stop the operation of an ink-jet head when the count-up signal is received. CONSTITUTION:During recording, when a microswitch 6 of a detector for detecting the ink amount is closed, a light emitting element of an alarm 32 starts glimmering through a line 31 and a control unit 40, so that the remaining volume of records able to be recorded by the ink within the ink tank can be found. When an enable terminal EN of a counter 33 is high, the counter 33 starts counting of the feeding amount of papers thereafter. The counter 33 counts the feeding amount of papers, for example, the number of recording lines.
