Abstract
PURPOSE: To stably detect a synchronizing signal without degrading S/N by computing the difference in the outputs of two photodetecting elements and extracting the synchronizing signal from the zero cross point of the computed outputs.
CONSTITUTION: The laser beam which is emitted from a laser 11 and is scanned by being deflected by a rotary polyhedral mirror 12 is detected by the photodetecting element 14 via a mirror 13. The photodetecting element 14 is constituted of the photodetecting elements 14a, 14b having a partition line in the direction perpendicular to the scanning direction of the laser beam. The detected signals thereof are subjected to the computation of the difference thereof in a subtraction circuit 16 via amplifiers 15a, 15b and the synchronizing signal is extracted from the zero cross point of the computed outputs. The position of the zero cross point does not change even if the intensity of the incident laser beam changes and, therefore, the stable synchronizing signal is obtd.
