Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform thermal transfer by eliminating the mutual mechanical movement between a recording electrode, an ink sheet and recording paper, by a method wherein a current is allowed to flow between the mutually opposed recording electrodes among recording electrodes through a resistor layer so as to collectively heat the region desired to generate heat within an image forming region and said region is heated to perform thermal transfer. CONSTITUTION:A large number of recording electrodes 7 successively arranged to the resistor layer 10A of an ink sheet 1 so as to surround recording paper S1 in a line form. When transfer is required by collectively heating the point P in an image forming region, operation allowing a current to flow between a pair of the recording electrodes having relation such that the imaginary line connecting two mutually opposed electrodes among the recording electrodes 7 passes the point P through the resistor layer 10A is successively performed with respect to all of the imaginary lines passing the point P. As mentioned above, by successively supplying a current, the max. current always flows to the imaginary lines passing the point P during one round and, therefore, the quantity of the heat generated at the point P is also superposed at every supply of a current of each time and, as a result, the quantity of generated heat becomes max. at the point P and an ink layer 10B is melted to be transferred to the recording paper S1.
